The HIL Component Catalogue is being developed as a comprehensive, digitally accessible database of all relevant HIL building elements. Its goal is to systematically record, structure, and document the building’s components. This includes precise 3D models at an appropriate level of detail, as well as supplementary technical information, quantity data, material specifications, and historical and cultural context. The resulting models can be seamlessly integrated into the existing digital twin of the HIL, forming together a consistent digital representation that can be used for research, planning, and future construction interventions.
Initially, the Component Catalogue focuses on the most frequently occurring elements. At the same time, it is designed to be continuously expanded and regularly maintained. As an open, long-term process, the project establishes a flexible foundation for documenting additional building components in the future.
By systematically bringing together technical, historical, and cultural information for the first time, the catalogue becomes a valuable tool for heritage conservation, teaching, research, and planning. In the long term, it can serve as a basis for renovations, refurbishments, or experimental interventions – thereby making a significant contribution to the sustainable further development of the HIL.
